I Have Broadband Now WhatSo you finally took the plunge and bought broadband internet. There are a couple safety procedures to do before you hook it up or if you have hooked it up to get done ASAP. 1. Get a Hardware Firewall. This will prevent anybody from getting into your computer from the internet. Does not stop viruses and spyware. The Hardware Firewall is a physical box you put between your computer and the cable or dsl modem. Stay far far away from software firewalls as they tend to clog your computer and slow them down. 2. Make sure you have descent virus and spyware protection and make sure they are always up to date. You have a MUCH faster connection then dialup so you will be bombarded with junk faster unfortunatly. |
