FreewareWhat is Freeware? Freeware is a program made for your use that does not cost a dime. The author of the program feels that the program that he/she has made should not be for sale and freely distributed. This is all totally legal. There are many diffent Free programs out there to choose from, you just have to know what you are looking for and where to find it. I will list below some free programs I use and you can use on a daily basis. AbiWord Free word processor that can open and edit OpenOffice, Word, Rich Text Format, HTML, Wordperfect documents, Palm, web pages and many more Mozilla Firefox This is used as an alternative to Internet Explorer to browse the internet (more secure then IE) Opera This is another alternative to Internet Explorer to browse the internet (more secure then IE also) Mozilla Thunderbird Alternative to Outlook Express. As like Firefox this is more secure and has better junk filtering then Outlook. NVU HTML editor. Basically a complete web authoring program. Open Office Alternative to Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc...) Picasa Picture viewer and editor. I use this for my digital camara and scanner. Very simple to use and fast. The Gimp Alterntive to Adobe Photoshop. Very complex photo editing/manipulation/everything tool. Inkscape Vector drawing program. Gaim Alternative instant messaging program that can use your aol, msn, icq, etc... with no ads and very fast. Foxit Reads PDF files and is much faster and smaller then Adobe PDF Reader. 7-Zip Used to compress and uncompress files. Very fast. Grisbi Personal financial manager. Alternative to MS Money or Quicken. |
